This is a business discount program for cyclists. There are no cards to carry around or secret handshakes; simply put- if you go to a participating small local business on a bicycle, you get a discount. There are nice, wooden signs with our logo that go in business windows that indicate they are part of this program. These signs are easy to see from the street.

Each business will decide on how much of a discount they will offer, and we will keep that updated here on the site. Ride your bike more and please support these small local businesses. Don't forget to ask for the discount.

What businesses are in the program?
Any small business wanting to see an increase in bicycle riding customers, looking to help the bike community or looking for ways to get more customers using fewer parking spots are welcome to participate. Also, this program is for local independent businesses that care about community. We will be turning away big box businesses.

What would my business gain by joining this program?
This will help with parking to start with. Also, sometimes it takes a crowd to create interest in a business and having 15 bikes parked out front does that. Having bikes parked out in front along with participation in the program also shows that your business is fresh, young, and eco friendly. If you can get your local customers to ride a bike rather than drive, you are winning on many levels. The big box businesses will not be allowed in this program so you will get more customers. The bicycle community can be a very loyal one. Help turn your neighborhood into a bike friendly area and the rewards will be huge.

How do I sign on to this program?
$50 a year is all it takes. This covers the custom made wooden sign, exposure on the web site, and advertising. The program is not-for-profit - the purpose of it is merely to help support an emerging bicycle community in San Diego, and at the same time, support quality independent businesses.

Whats the time line for exposure?
Right now we are looking to get 20 or so businesses on board. Once that happens we will start to really push the public into riding their bikes and frequenting the businesses. At about 30-40 businesses we will go to the TV media and print media with the story and from that point it will really take off. I expect it to spread across the uptown and downtown areas quickly and then hopefully after the success in those places, it will spread across the rest of San Diego. This will become national news in the bicycle world and I can see it spreading to other cities. The cyclists, San Diego and the independent businesses win with this program.
